
Mr. Byron Simpson, Jr. is a
Computer Science graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and
Technical State University. He received a Bachelor of
Science degree in May 2001 and a Master of Science degree in
December 2002 from North Carolina A&T. He is a native
of the Washington, DC metropolitan area and now resides in
Los Angeles County, CA.
While studying computer science in
the College of Engineering, President Simpson gained four
years of leadership experience while serving the NC A&T
chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) -
the largest student run organization in the country.
His tenure on the chapter level includes serving as the
Telecommunications Chairperson, Vice President, and
President. President Simpson expanded his creative
talents by participating and serving as the step master for
the NSBE chapter step team, leading them to three (3)
consecutive regional step show championships and an
appearance in a national step show. The team made
history by receiving an invitation to step in the NC A&T SU
2000 homecoming step show. During his presidential
tenures, President Simpson lead the chapter to win the most
prestigious awards in the national organization, and was
name the 2000 College of Engineering - Computer Science
Student of the Year and NSBE - Region II Member of the Year.
In graduate school, President
Simpson served as the Chairman of NSBE - Region II - the
largest region within the organization - and served on the
National Executive Board. During his tenure, President
Simpson helped the organization secure a corporation to
financially sponsor the activities of the region and
national organization. During his last semester at
A&T, President Simpson, along with two members, established
the Aggie Live Wire Pep Squad as a non-profit
student-managed organization, and is credited as a founder
of the Aggie Live Wire Organization.
President Byron Simpson, Jr. brings
his leadership experience, ability to teach, patience, and
organizational management ability to the chapter. He
plans to establish a structure, and a sense of order to the
chapter. He looks forward to a very productive year!
